Colling System Upgrade/Update

Post by cigarluvr »

Allright, not sure if this should go in the basics forum but WTH...

The ol' ZJ's rad has given up the ghost and needs to be replaced. However have been babying for a couple of minths because of the 4.6L beast I am assembling. So the question is, what are some of the upgrades to the cooling system y'all have made to keep your strokers cool in the ZJ/XJ/TJ/YJ/MJ? I am looking for more that a basic fluid swap...lol.

My plans are to definately move to an electric fan and higher flow water pump/thermo housing...but what about radiators? or anything else?

That won't fit in a ZJ, they aren't interchangeable.

I'm running a single-core (yes, single core) all aluminum Silla, flowkooler pump, stock fan and stock 195 t-stat and even yesterday when it was ~90 out it never crept past 210 doing 65-70. At low speeds it actually cools down a bit and it will run around 190-200 or so. I'm running a 70/30 mix of Peak (gold bottle) with distilled water. I would say if you upgrade to electric fan(s) you will be golden.

I'm running a stock 2-row HD radiator, Flowkooler water pump, JET 180* t'stat, and dual electric fans. The engine's as cool as a cucumber even in 110+*F heat.
