calc questions

Post by unknownone »

Hello,

I have read through all of the basics threads a couple of times now, and thought I had a pretty good understanding of the math involved in building a stroker.

Then I downloaded Andreas calc and the math just doesn't seem to match. For example on paper I came up with a cr of about 9.2 using just the 258 crank and rods with everything else stock. Andreas calc came up with a cr of 11.4 on a thicker head gasket! And after I monkeyed around with other values like decking/plaining/dishing/boring it to get to a 4.7L displacement the calc shot up to a cr over 45.1!

I can't afford racing fuel, but I can afford to be better educated

What am I not understanding about the calc?

That was the problem!

I am not sure I understand though. On paper I calculate the dish volume and add it to the total volume of the chamber don't I ?
