my recipe

Post by shawnxj »

ok so i've been playing with the calculator and would somebody double check my numbers please?

4.0 rods
258 crank
bulltear pistons with 27 cc dish
.008 deck clearance...roughly i'm either gonna deck the block or move the wrist pin on the pistons waiting to hear from bulltear on prices
.043 head gasket
lunati 63502 can

scr- 9.12
dcr 7.63
quench .00445

how would i find out what kind of power output this would make and what octane gas i could run?

I'll assume you're going +0.030" on the pistons for a 4.6L displacement. SCR (assuming 57cc head) will indeed be 9.1:1 and quench (without decking block) will be 0.051".
Power output will depend on the rest of the engine combo and ancillary performance mods, but you should be able to run 87 octane.

thanks dino i think i talked myself out of having to wait on the bulltear pistons and just go with the kb944's which will push my dcr up to 9.42 or 9.6 depending on how much i take off the block. will i still be able to run 87 or 89 octane at sea lvl in south texas with 100+ degree summers?

I doubt it. You'll probably need 91 octane.

not exactly sure yet. once i have the cam/lifters i'll check to see how long the pushrods need to be and decide if i wanna use stock rockers or not. i just ordered desktop dyno so i may not even go with that cam yet. once i run the numbers i'll decide what to do
