edge trail jammer with stroker???

Post by jabsTJ »

Has anyone used the edge trail jammer system with their stroker? I am in the process of a 4.5L build for my 97 TJ and just wondering if its a good idea to disconnect the piggyback system. It definitely makes a difference with the stock 4.0 so I am thinking it can't really hurt on the stroker I wouldn't think. But any advice or personal experiences might put me at ease a little more before trying it.

It'll depend on how high your compression is. All those programmers advance ignition and recommend that you use 93 octane and 180* t-stats to prevent pinging. When you run a higher compression stroker than the stock 4.0 and require higher octane than 87, programs that were made for the stock 4.0s are too advanced. I couldn't use the Jet2 I had for the 4.0, and I couldn't even use the Hypertech on my 4.0 w/o it pinging. I made the mistake of letting my friend use my Jeep last week while I was fixing his and he put 87 in it--I can't even go 1/4 throttle through 2-3K without it pinging. I could use less ignition advance in that band.
