just got a smoking deal on a 99+ intake, throttle body, injectors and pretty much everything else that bolts to the intake so what i want to know is what's the best exhaust manifold to mate with the new intake?

When I did my 99+ intake I used a Borla 17202 heat wrapped to the collectors into 2-2" pipes into a 3" pipe to a 50 series flomaster, then 2.5" out the back. It has a different sound, a lot of people ask me if I have a V8.

I would advise against heat wrap though. It works, but it also holds moisture and heat which can cause rust or a crack. If you plan to use a warranty on your header most likely using heat wrap will void that warranty.

I am wondering the same thing? Is a stock manifold flow really bad? On a stroker is a header a must?

If it can inhale more its gonna want to exhale more.

Its stainless steel I don't think I'll have to worry about rust? I have my doubts that this 2 pc header will crack, as thick as the header tubes and flange are I really doubt failure. I know anything can happen............

I did the heat wrap because the first time I had the stroker in the intake was extremely hot and the wiring and injectors was warmer than I like them to be. The heat wrap on the headers made a huge difference in component temps around them.

Depends on what grade stainless. Some stainless does get surface rust. Different grades also act differently withe extreme heat.

what about that thermo coating i've heard of people using then wrapping the header? you think they'd still rust?

I have the edlebrock with the ty-tech coating and i have not noticed any engine compartment temp differences. Granted I am not running a stroker. but it does see alot of slow cralwing in mid arizona summer and i dont notice anything.

I had thermal wrap on my headers on my 84 z-28 and will never do that again
