difference between 2 oil pans?

what is the difference between oil pans: 53020833AB listed for 87-02 vs 53010340AB came off '00?
I am lost....help?

53010340AB is a OIL PAN, Jeep, All, TJ Series - 4.0L - 4.0L 01-03
53020833AB is a OIL PAN, Jeep, All, XJ Series - 4.0L - 4.0L 00-01

They look the same to me...I didn't measure or anything.

I am even more screwed up than.... numbers above were obtained with dealer's help.... hmmm
now i am looking at the 91-93 parts manual and see:

5302 0207 1 MJ XJ YJ PAN, Engine Oil
5302 0108 1 ZJ
?

OIL PUMPS THE SAME between tj and yj, so as pickup tube- no difference in sump/pickup location
OIL PAN GASKET- same between tj and yj.
i do realize that some xj/zj would have an oil level sensor.... but what's up with all of these #s??

No oil level sender on any 4.0Ls.

The TJ does have a different exhaust routing, maybe that has something to do with it.

well I am going by junk yard ( like 4 acres of jeeps only ) will stop by if they want to talk money, I will... last time I've asked they wanted $300+ tax + recycler tax ( 15% or something rediculus) for the darn intake off 99+ 4.0 ( no TB or any sensors)...will see

well i am happy to inform that i got to deal with the yard. 72 dollars later i got timing cover ( button style), oil pan out of 94 yj, gazzilion bolts, coincidentally the sprocket ( 8 dollar bolt that i got from dealer yesterday with the washer). in other words I was able to knock original quote bown by close to $30. I got it on my way to machinist. I had lead on a cheaper parts, but i *want* my engine to be done before christmas, so my christmas days i can spend screwing/driving my jeep ...

I tried to put my '89 XJ Renix oil pan on the NVH shortblock today and guess what.... It hits hard on the main stud girdle near the front of the block. I only have the girdle spaced up like .060" with one hardened washer and the pan is sitting a bit higher than that in the front (i didn't measure it). Even with the gasket it is hitting the pan. Soooooo does anybody know if the later NVH pans are just slightly deeper near the front? I'd hate to throw away the girdle after all this......

I had a thought and would like to throw it out there for the sake of discussion and 'cause I'm really screwed....LOL If chrysler made a change to the later oil pans so they would clear the main girdle, is it not possible that they just superceeded some earlier pan number that would not show anymore? If there were no fitment issues with a pan that was say 1/4-1/2" deeper in the front, which there probably wouldn't be, then I could see them superceding in which case the dealer would show the same pan number early to late because that would be all he had available to him....what sez U guys?

Get a hammer and beat the pan out. Problem solved. There is no different HO engine oil pan. They didn't make any change for the girdle.

I'm gonna go to the wrecking yard and grab an NVH pan just to be sure 'cause it seems unlikely there were engine assemblers in detroit beating on oil pans.....

You will have the same problem. My oil pan is from a NVH block and I had to beat it to get it to fit with the shimmed main girdle. But hey, you appear to know everything, why do you even bother to post here?

I shimmed the main girdle... only had to alter the baffle for the HV pump... The bolts and new style 1-pc rubber gasket did everything they needed to do on the pan.... What needs to be altered?

While using a torch to heat the pan to red heat I snugged the pan bolts up....it stretched it where it needed wihout using a hammer. I then massaged the front of the girdle just a little and everything bolts up just fine with a gasket for a little extra space.
