Ideas on locating TDC

Post by Jeep4xb4u »

I know this sounds like a lame question, But i'm in the middle of rapping up some loose ends on the installation of the stroker. My problem or concern is that i'm not 100% sure i indexed my dist right. It was around a year ago that i did it and i'm wanting to confirm. I would prefer not to remove the valve cover and need to know if there is any way i can confirm i'm @ TDC on the correct stroke or whether i'm 360* out. Anyone have any ideas? should i just turn it over and assume its right and if it doesn't fire then rotate the engine 360*.

Remove the #1 plug, put your finger over the hole and have some one bump the started until your finger blows off the spark plug hole. Then turn the crank by hand using the balancer bolt, and line up the balancer mark with the TDC on the timing cover.
