ways to boost torque
I'm working on a 4.7 Budget built stroker. Just looking for some ideas on ways to boost the torque a bit more.. I was getting 315lb.

Cam selection, 99 intake helps uniform the torque curve, Borla long tube headers. What is the primary end use of this build?

Re: ways to boost torque
as of right now it would be my dd...I'm want to try and give it a boost so I can actually make it up a hill (5speed) I'm not looking for monster torque or power or climbing rig stats. I want to try and keep the jeep as economical as I can while giving it that little boost. It has to turn 35inch tires.

You will see a great improvement if you match gears with those 35's.

Re: ways to boost torque
I'd throw the lowest gears you can into it.
I ran 4.56s and 32s in my stock engined 88 Cherokee with the OD automatic and it was very nice to drive (MPGs went over 20 on the highway).

That would be a good selection for a daily driver, should put you back close to the OEM performance with factory gears and tire sizes.cjackson3396 wrote:So what would you suggest for gears....My ranger had 35s and 4:56 ratio..

Could I use the 4:10 gears out of a wrangler?

Re: ways to boost torque
I run 33's and 4:10's and get 14 ish around town and 17 hwy (60-65mph) 4.6 stroker and AW4 in a wrangler. I like the way it is geared.

Re: ways to boost torque
I have stock sized 27.4" tires with stock 3.07 gears and the balance is just about perfect. Since you have 35" tires, I'd say you need 4.10's. If the Wrangler has the same axles you can use the gears from those.cjackson3396 wrote:as of right now it would be my dd...I'm want to try and give it a boost so I can actually make it up a hill (5speed) I'm not looking for monster torque or power or climbing rig stats. any 2.5 4 banger would have 4.10 gears too, not just a wrangler

Re: ways to boost torque
I daily'd 4.56s on 33, 35, and 37 mtrs over a period of bout 6 years. IMO they where just tad (~200rpm) high on the highway with the 35's and a bit low (~2-300rpm) with the 37's. However the highways in my area require you to run 70+ or your gettin run over so if your lookin for 60mph and 35's id say 4.56's are your best bet. BTW I had an AX-15 w/ .79 OD ratio.
