Fitch Fuel Catalyst
Any experience with Fitch Fuel Catalyst? I've read some good reviews that it actually works?? I'm concerned with pinging once the stroker is installed. Thought this might help?? They advertise that it boosts octane... Sanke oil??

i have one in my xj and it seemed to work got about 1 to 1.5 more miles to the gallon and thats with a lift on and all. never any ping though as its an auto and cant really bog it that much 1200rpm is as low as i can get it. so go for it.blk85cj7 wrote:Any experience with Fitch Fuel Catalyst? Marcus aka gojeep also has one and he says it works. I would like to try one myself, but I need a running jeep that isn't in pieces every 2 or 3 months first.

ive been kinda curious about these too. my uncle has pellets from them for his chev duramax and swears by them, but i just cant help but to think theyre a little bit of snake oil

Thought I read an article in 4 wheel mag about the catalyst....apparently it works better for fuel that is old or stale. With fresh fuel it didn't seem to have a lot of benefits.

It is snake oil every time the gas prices go up then new and improved gas saving devices comes out. When gas was approaching $4.50 a gallon a year and a half ago this came up along with the 1%acetone in gas gas which "broke surface tension" what ever that means.
If you Google Fitch Fuel Catalyst you will see a ton of articles on the subject. A gallon of gas has 124,000 BTUs in it no matter what brand or octane rating flavor or variety. So the efficiency comes in how you use those 124K BTUs proper combustion (Air Fuel Ratio, Lambda or if you want to get really highfalutin Stoiciometrics) weight, aerodynamics and so on.
Bottom line is there is no pill or physical process that will increase the BTU content of a gallon of gasoline its physically impossible. What you can do is use those BTUs wisely.

Horsepower TV did a dyno test of one, and claimed there was an improvement... In gallons per hour used, anyone familar with the dyno process has Got to ask why they showed results in gallons per hour instead of brake specific fuel consumption. BSFC is a exact and unequivocal measurement of fuel efficiency on a dyno... GPH is very much NOT. All sorts of things can cause GHP to change (like starting the first run with an empty just installed Carburetor which they did) If you look hard enough there are several dyno tests of the fitch, using Brake Specific Fuel Consumption, and none have shown an improvement in fuel efficiency, one even showed slightly worse. BTW Horsepower TV pimps the Fitch during just about every show; AND I know for a fact that they can measure BSFC, in fact they have used BSFC in other unrelated tests.
The Fitch is the slickest most intelligently marketed snake oil... but It is snake oil, refining gas more even if a couple small pellets could do that, would lead to WORSE GAS MILEAGE.... as higher octane (more refined) fuel has LESS ENERGY CONTENT.
Forget about the fact the more refined fuel will get worse gas mileage in a normal car. The claim that it even refines gas at all is ludicrous, refining is a lossy chemical process and petroleum engineers have already examined the fitch and determined that there's not enough "material" in the pellets to refine even a few gallons of fuel before being completely spent, and this is assuming the pellets were actually in a refinery system capable of actual chemical refinement, instead of inside a metal filter housing re purposed to look like something. Exxon would spluge all over itself if it could refine gasoline by dropping metal pellets in a big tank...
Sorry to say but the placebo effects is responsible for any and all "improvements" just like Acetone and Hurricane intake widgets etc.
