I was looking at what various companies offer as far as lifters for the 4.0/258 engines. Not much. However, I noticed something weird. The Chrysler 360 takes the same Melling part number of JB-2011 as the 4.0L. However, various part stores list more lifters for the 360 than the 4.0L. For example.. the Isky 3912-A-HY was listed for the 360, but not the 4.0L. These are hydraulic flat lifters. What is the reasoning behind this? Is it just that the lifter number isn't entered as a 4.0L or is there something different that one lifter has that the other doesn't?
Will any Chrysler .904" diameter hydraulic flat lifter work for the 4.0L engine as well?

It's my understanding that the aftermarket company's don't make any lifters for the Chrysler engines because the AMC lifters will work in them, so why make two lifters when one will fill the bill!?
The Chrysler's being more popular will show more options than the AMC's, the discrepancy is that Chrysler's oil the top end via galleys where the AMC's oil thrue the push rod's, if you use a real Chrysler lifter in an AMC it will get no oil to the top of the engine, the oil feed hole in the Mopar lifters is in the wrong position if it exist at all?
