Crank Bolt
I have 1981-86__3235477________3235444 4 counterweights, 46lb, 64mm nose crank and the shop I got it from didn't give me the bolt. My 4.0 crank bolt is different thread so it seems or he / or where he got it from boogered up the threads. Where can I find a bolt? Advavce, autozone, NAPA. noone has it. Maybe Chrysler...UHG?

Re: Crank Bolt
The dealer has the best price on this bolt. Hesco can also supply it.

Re: Crank Bolt
Why couldnt you replace it with like a grade 8 bolt from the hardware store?

Re: Crank Bolt
I believe its metric, fine thread grade 10. Good luck finding that combination at Lowes or Home Depot (I absolutely hate their fastener selection)... you might find one at an Ace.

Re: Crank Bolt
I was thinking of an ace... thats where i usually go... However, there are many fastener suppliers online. What would be wrong with using grade 8 vs 10?

Re: Crank Bolt
hope this didn't post twice since I sent it on my cell. i'm taking crank to our bolt & nut warehouse in the AM so he can fix me up with the right one. what about getting it 1cm shorter so I wouldn't have to use a spacer?

Re: Crank Bolt
I think you have a problem with the threads....
Are you talking about cutting 10mm off the crank snout? If you want to that is just as good as a spacer.

Re: Crank Bolt
I know that the spacer is so the belt will line up, but is the spacer because the bolt bottoms out in the crankshaft? This is how I'm understanding it.
So if that is the case a 10mm/ 1 cm shorter bolt would be the same! No?

Re: Crank Bolt
i thought the spacer went on the outside. cause the snout was to long. so if you took 1cm off or had a 1cm spacer on the outside then the pulley and belt line up!! so the bolt and washer still bottom out on the crank (i think)
keepin the five alive!

Re: Crank Bolt
The bottoming out of the bolt is what is seems happens. So since I need a new bolt getting it 1cm shorter should work. At least the I am seeing it. I could be wrong. Silver I thought it was a messed up thread, but both 258 cranks are the same. The bolt I have won't go.

Re: Crank Bolt
I've got the ancient 12 CW and had the snout trimmed. My '98 crank bolt fit fine. I never even thought about that.
