So you think I should bore out the intake manifold to the 74mm?

If you don't there would be no reason to go with a larger throttle body.

That looks real nice. Did the machinist use CNC or hand?

Do you have spacers for the throttle linkage stand to keep the linkage geometry correct? I don't remember exactly where the 4.7L throttle shaft is in relation to the stock one.

I`d be game.

Most likely will use a F&B TB though. Any thoughts on the compatibility of the bolt patterns ?

don't know what an f &b throttlebody is but if it's modeled off the jeep 4.7 i don't see why i wouldn't bolt up

Called and talked to F&B today. Super nice guy with plenty of good info.

The F&B uses the stock bolt pattern so no adapter needed. They stock 68`s and also 70`s but the web site only shows the 68`s. Same pricing.

No screwing with linkages so that is a another plus. Factory TPS/IAC bolts up.

One big consideration is the added air flow is going to require additional fuel. More fuel pressure bigger injectors depends on your set up.

Increasing MAP is an option but now you are affecting the duty cycle of the injectors. Injectors don`t like running anymore then 80% duty cycle.

On fixed ECM cal`s added fuel pressure will deliver more fuel but at idle the ECM can only pull out so much. I`ve found that on my stroker anything above 45psi leads to an overly rich idle.

This conversation can go on and on but there is more to adding a larger TB then simply making it fit the intake.

Not a problem on the OBDII trucks, simply retune the PCM.

You are talking about the Jeep 4.0L F&B right? Because this adapter fits a 4.7L dodge/Jeep TB to the 4.0L intake manifold

Also, I couldn't tell from the pics of the actual piece, but going off the green cad image you might have a problem.

Image

The spot in the upper right of the adapter piece, kind of off set. That is where the IAC bypass dumps into the intake manifold. If that image is correct you will me blocking that hole off. The plate needs to be machined down in that area to let the IAC work. See pic below of the 4.7L intake manifolds.

Alternatively you could modify the throttle body in that area.

Also, I compared the 4.0L TB to the 4.7L. The throttle shafts are the same height (or close enough) to only need spacers the thickness of the adapter to keep the throttle linkage happy. However, the end of the throttle shaft sticks out about 1/4" more than the 4.0L when the bores are centered over each other. I don't know how much if any of an issue that may cause, but just something for you to consider.

What fuel pressure? I sold my 703s (21lbs?) I had the in a renix..which is 39psi? I was thinking of doing 24s(4.2l mini stroker) you saw my specs previously in my thread....but I was also told to stick to 19-21lbs and go up to 43.5psi regulator vs my 39psi for a better "spray pattern".

Unfortunately those of us with OBD I aren't so blessed. I've managed to get by with only a small voltage increase from my MAP adjuster despite its limitations, probably because the injector size (Ford 24lb'ers) turned out to be good in the first place.
As Muad'Dib correctly pointed out, results will vary and yes, it IS nuts.

19lb is the flow rate I am getting out of my injectors. 1990 RENIX.

I am running Ford Mustang Orange Top injectors which flow 18.25 @ 3 bar. My fuel pressure with the vacuum disconnected is 48psi. That makes these injectors flow 19.2lb hr.

This is not the norm, I was just merely stating that with my particular set-up I am somehow managing to get 19lb injectors to work with a 4.7 Stroker AND a Dodge Dakota 68mm TB.

Most apparently need 24lb injectors.
