I would still recommend to choose the long-rod setup, since the long rods are reputed as stronger ones, and with supercharger they will yield even better power band. Also, it's not that much more expensive. I did a short-rod one and now I regret it. I wouldn't go this way again.

Take the forged pistons, since the force that will act on them will be pretty huge. But I'm afraid you will have to go with custom ones, since KB944 dish can be too small (22cc). BUT, if you go with custom pistons, you can get higher ones, though avoiding the need to deck the block. Again, some money saved.

hesco uses short-rods as far as I know. Though I'm a big fan of hesco quality, I think you can get better setup for your needs.

Hesco uses stock length 6.125" 4.0 rods.
