I'm also a Mustang fan but I'm still on my 1st. My Jeep feels livelier off the line but my Stang feels more like an aircraft during take-off; a little lazy initially and then a wave of torque pushes you into your seat. I do love driving my Jeep though. Apart from the straight line acceleration, the handling is very agile for an SUV and it corners amazingly well. I have Bridgestone Turanzas on both vehicles and the grip is excellent.

I haven't dyno'd or timed it BUT i do have some info to go along with my butt dyno...which is very satisfied.

First my dad drove my jeep for years with the stock 4.0 until he gave it to me when I got my license ...he helped me through the whole build all the way till it was back on the road broken in...then he drove it and his words were "SHIT AARON!...that thing feels like we just swaped a fresh V8!"

also two of my buddies from my job...on two different occasions...said "man this thing has some F'n torque!" i didn't ask them if it did, they just came out and said it.

Another interesting fact is that I haven't experienced WOT in 2'd gear yet because last time I tried I almost ripped the rear driveshaft out

On rainy days I should probably pray :worship: to the man up stairs cuz i've got to much power for my own good and not enough brakes for my own safety

I should also mention its a 91 YJ, DD, on 37" MTR's with 5.13's

My Stang has 3.27 rearend gears vs 4.11s in the TJ. It does "get up" when needed and impressively. I don't think you'll be let down at all. My problem is that I've never driven any other Jeep and I drove this Tj the first time when I installed the Stroker so I don't have a reference
I have the same problem never driven another 4.0L Jeep.. bought my WJ with a siezed motor.. Its defenitely a different feel I have had many well built LS1,6's 5.0 etc and I'm not feeling let down in anyway.

I am happy with the performance of my stroker. I feel like there is some more power with some computer tuning, but with a new baby that may take some time. Off the line torque is pretty good, but it really comes to life at around 2500 rpm. The heavy crank may have something to do with this. I was messing with a mustang GT on the way to work on day. I could keep up to about 60 mph, but then he would pull away.

Now you have to remember, it's still a relatively small displacement engine... somewhere around 280CID, with a not so good flowing head compared to some of the newer head designs. If you had 1HP per cubic inch 280 cid stroker that would be 280 HP. Compare that to a 400 cid engine with 1HP per cid(400HP), that's a pretty big difference. Now I'm NOT saying that a stroker isn't worth it, my stroker is a lot more fun to drive than the stock 4.0, but it will never keep up to my 401 cj5.

My compression right now is 9.25SCR/ 7.75DCR, and I can run 87 octane gas. I am going to shoot for 9.6-9.8 SCR with 8.1-8.3 DCR on my next stroker, with a 4 inch stroke.
