I am trying to figure out the last couple pieces for my '97 Stroker build. I want to run 87 pump gas. I am willing to pay a premium to do so. I am going with the Diamond Pistons to get the SCR to around 9:1. I had planned on using my stock cam, or a similar replacement, to make it easier with respect to pushrods, springs, smog emissions, etc... I noticed the CR calculator on this forum uses the input for the 87-95 camshafts (270 Intake Duration,112 deg lobe separation and -8 retard) when calculating DCR at 6.6. If I plug in the 97 and up camshaft info (256,107,-7) my DCR is around 7.3. My questions are:
1. Is 7.3:1 too high for 87 octane pump gas? I have read 7:1 is the magic number.
2. Can a '95 camshaft run in a '97 block? Is it compatible with the '97 sensors, computer?
