7120 head on an 03 wrangler

Post by dwg86 »

Has anyone tried welding or brazing some nuts on a 7120 head to bolt down a coil rail. Does anyone see a problem with doing that?

IF you try to braze it, it will most certainly crack from the localized heat, you might possibly???? get away with tack welding something on there with some NICKLE rod, to efectivly weld a casting the whole thing needs to be heated to a very high UNIFORM temperature! and cooled SLOWLY.

I asked my machinist about doing that when I swapped my heads and he said it wouldn't work.

Maybe you should look at using a Ford coil for a V6 and running wires, might be eaiser than trying to make a mount for the coil pack on the head.

Making the mount isn't that hard.. just run some straps from the valve cover bolts to the coil rail... however I hate the coil rail.. its just a pain in the ass to get in and out and I like the Ford V6 coil pack idea and will probably eventually swap to one.
