First post Looking for cam suggestion

Post by Yogi57 »

Hi all, I am rebuilding a 4.2 in my 1980 Wagoneer. This thing is a sluggish beast and I am hoping to get just a little more bottom end power to help with acceleration.
The Jeep is an automatic with 3:31 gearing and 31 inch tires.

Right now, I can't get up to freeway speed on the on-ramp, I have had Semi's blow their horns at me because I am impeding traffic. My goal is to improve that acceleration. Not looking for top quarter miler times, just a little bit more of a comfort margin.

I would appreciate any suggestions for brands/part numbers. Thanks!

I don't think a cam is going to help you much but a set of 4.10 axle gears will help you a lot.
