Renix 4.6 engine build
So I spent some time at the salvage yard today. Scored myself a $300 engine with 20k less miles than my xj. I noticed it had a new distributor, coil, 4 hole injectors, and some other goodies! So now the real fun begins! I think the best part is my girl is just as excited as I am. Check out my find guys!!!!

Re: Renix 4.6 engine build
Been awhile since I've posted so here's an update. I tore the 90' block down I noticed the cam, lifters, and timing chain all looked in excellent condition. The bad things I saw were a couple rod/main bearings. I've since hauled it to machine shop and looking at some various machine work. Working with russ pottenger for the majority of the parts and knowledge to this build so special thanks to you! When I get it back from machine shop I'll post another update.

Re: Renix 4.6 engine build
Anyone want an update? Well still waiting on machine work to be finished. Should be done here in the next couple weeks or shortly after the 1st of the year. Here's a few pictures not the best but got a couple while checking in at machine shop.

Re: Renix 4.6 engine build
Hey guys back for an update we are buttoning things up at the machine shop. Getting some parts have been hard to find or quite costly. I’ve been working closely with Russ Pottenger on a lot of it. He’s a great guy and have been so thankful for his time and patience. My local machine shop is doing fabulous work. Had a little wait time for him to get the correct tool for his machine to cut my spring pockets in the head. So with things getting closer to an pull and install, I will be on here much more frequently. I will post update and tons of silly questions please bare with me
Love lilblue89xj
P.s. here’s a bad picture of the pistons and rods

Re: Renix 4.6 engine build
Back again since I saw a couple comments. Just thought some of you might like a fill in on “lil blue” since this build is taking some time. I bought lil blue back in 22’ with somewhere around the 208k mark. She is a 1989 jeep cherokee Laredo 4x4 4.0 aw4 np242 was owned by 1 family who bought it new in 89’ in which in acquired most it’s miles, at some point is was stolen from the family. It was recovered but in that time the family had acquired newer vehicles in its place. It was then passed on to there son who was a fire chief and used it as a spare vehicle from time to time. He never put much money into other than to keep it road worthy! Awesome right! So it was in fairly good condition when I got it. I drove it as far south as New Orleans and as far north as junction Colorado. Lil blue is currently sitting at 232k with 4.5” of lift and on 32s
Thanks for reading I’m open to any questions about anything as well

Hey crew I’m back as I went to machine shop to check in. I only lack pushrods which are on back order and rockers can’t decide over oem or roller biggest decision is $$$$. Got some better pictures minus the crank
