got me, I'm sure there's an expensive machine in a large expensive Race shop somewhere that will find out for you at the hourly shop rate and the cost of however many rods you wish to have pulled apart :o

I hear you on the variety of bits and pieces that are showing up... partly its us paying more attention to the minutia and partly its the later years of Jeep engines that are starting to fail or get pulled... I wouldn't be surprised if the, 05 and 06 4.0's have some surprises for us...

Well, holding both of them in my hand, the 548's look about 1000% higher quality than the 544's. The casting is much smoother and even, without any really rough seams. I believe, since no one has any bad info about them, I'll be putting the 548's on my kb944's.
I NEED MORE TORQUE!

'03 Rubicon w/4.6: kb944 pistons, late 70's 4 weight crank, Mopar P4529228ab cam, 240 dur./.430 lift, barely polished head. First fire 11/14/08, no mechanical issues so far.
