Need some advice before going further
I am building a 4.6L stroker for my 89 renix XJ. I have the 569 96-99 block and 0630 head, will this block and head combo be a direct install? Thanks for any help.

Keeping the renix harness? i think a few differences are location of the coolant temp sensor for the ECU moved from the side of the block, to the thremostat housing. I'm not sure if there is a threaded hole to put in the knock sensor in the original location either. Take notice of the alternator as well, i don't think the renix harness will work with the 96+ alternator

Yes I would like to run everything from the Renix system. And yes I would like to run the Renix alternator, does it not install the same? Is there another way to install the knock sensor? I can drill and tap the thermostat housing so I dont think that will be a problem.

My 94 and 99 block have the knock sensor boss cast into the block but are not tapped. (comparing to the 90)
don't bother drilling and tapped the thermostat housing, you can get one from the stealership for ~$50

You'd have to refer to some wiring diagrams for the alternator differences. I'll take a peak at my 89 renix sitting outside and compare the alternator hookup to my 91 HO i just installed

The HO / denso ones have the regulator in the ECU, and I have had one go bad before, causing horrendous overcharging... and spilled acid from the battery eating the vacuum hose that runs under the battery tray (what moron though that would be a good idea???)
The plus is that the Delco CS-130i have rebuild kits readily available.
the mounts differ, as does the wiring.
$171 for a 90 amp DENSO that needs rewiring to work or $100 for a 105AMP Delco that drops in.
Either way it's your Heep and your choice .
When the Alt dies in my 94 XJ I'm converting it to a Delco.

But will the Renix alternator bolt up in the stock location on the newer block?

You could always do the v8 alt from the ZJ and durangos. They fit with just a little modification, which has been covered before on jeepforum or naxja, and Im sure some other places as well.
Now I can be like all those other awesome people with more than one Jeep in their sig, but now I have to say one of them is sold:(

I have a 90 and 94 in the garage, it makes these comparisons very easy.
