Sounds like it is either hooked up wrong, a problem withe the wires, or with the spark plugs. Any codes for a misfire?3losh07 wrote:I need help
I have bought and installed viper igntion coil part# uf412 -B2918M
And jegs performance wires 40219 and i did the same as you guys installing 1&6 at the bottom, 2&5 middle and both flipped and non flipped 4&3 at top
The engine started but not smoothly
The problem here there is a lot if vibration that shake the car body with it and i have no clue what is the reason
Could be the wrong coil ? Or wrong wire ? Or bad pcm ?
It Can not be the spark plugs because i reused the coil rail and the engine started without problem
My jeep is 2000 tj 4.0l
Good bye coil rail.

What is the thing you have by the dipstick?
A slight update on my setup:
The cut to length Summit wires worked fine until I installed a ham radio in the XJ. They aren't insulated that well and were creating static on the radio. I replaced them with a custom set of Magnecores.

Re: Good bye coil rail.
I just finished doing my coil rail swap to a coil pack and I love how it came out. For anyone looking to do this swap I highly recommend it. I did however take it a step further by using an actual performance coil pack. My set up is a Davis United ignition screamin demon coil (part number 31740) msd 8.5mm wires and msd spark plugs gapped to .05. I’ve had it on for about a week now and there are 0 problems. Runs super smooth, starts right up, better throttle response, bit more giddy up through out the rpms, and I’m actually getting about 1-1.5mpg gain. The coil recommended running a .065 gap so I have a bit more experimentation to do. Also recommend paring it with 24lb/hr 12 hole injectors from jeepinjectors.com for the better spray pattern. I have a 2002 Jeep Wrangler TJ and this setup runs flawlessly

Re: Good bye coil rail.
Hey Greeneyedman97 - I am glad you posted this, I was looking to do this on my 2000 TJ since it is about the same price as a new Mopar coil rail. Good find on the JK coil pack, it's nice to know I don't have to pay extra for the viper kit with the extra coil pack I don't need. I verified with Performance Distributors that the coil pack for the JK is the exact same one used in the Viper kit in case anyone else wants to know. What I wanted to know is where you mounted the coil, all pictues I have seen have been on XJs and I wasn't sure where would be the best place in the TJ engine bay. Any pictures you have would be great!Greeneyedman97 wrote:I just finished doing my coil rail swap to a coil pack and I love how it came out. For anyone looking to do this swap I highly recommend it. Do you have the firing order you used. Diagram if you have it. Re: Good bye coil rail.
I know this is an old post. Is it saying the Dodge coil will plug in to the Jeep connector? It looks like the wiring is the same. Is the connector the same shape?

Thanks. This is going to make it a whole lot easier. A head that won't crack sounds good too.

Re: Good bye coil rail.
Hi just started the preliminaries for my coil rail eliminator on my 01 with a 98 block and head stroker. I just finished the 3 foot extender harness and it still runs on the rail so that's good. my problem is that the connector on my 01 into the rail does not directly connect into the AIRTEX 5C1432 replacement coil pack. when staring at the airtex unit with lock clip up...there is a thin raised square rail on the upper left side that has no corresponding cutout on the 01 connector. I can easily grind away but I thought this was a direct fit connection and I want to make sure I have it right before I start cutting away stuff...thanks..Will try to get pictures later today
