This is my first post here, but I’ve been reading a lot. I’ve been thinking about building a stroker out of my 1990 short block ( the head was cracked) and I have already done a true high output swap from a 1993 cherokee. I have also acquired a 1990 yj long block to hopefully use the crank out of for my build. I’m debating on whether I should use my stock rods or get new ones, and for pistons I would like to keep dish volume somewhere in the combustion ratio for pump gas friendly zone. As for cam selection I’ve been thinking about comp cams 232 cam. I haven’t looked too much into it yet, but I’ve also been wondering what all is required for an LS valve swap.
I will keep an open mind to any input and advice and would also like to thank everybody in advance.

Considering that the stock rods from the '93 engine are a 1/4 century old, you might as well replace them with brand new units combined with custom forged pistons.
I'm sure Russ will chime in as he can fix you up with all the necessary parts to build a kick-ass stroker.

My thoughts are check my 258 crank, reuse stock 4.0 rods with icon 944 pistons +0.040, get it all balanced, then get the block bored +0.040 and decked for zero clearance, and get the comp 232 cam and lifter kit. I would also like to get a hold of a roll master double roller timing set and then deal with push rod length and getting the head ported. I almost forgot mopar springs, keepers and locks.
Any thoughts for/against this combination?

Thank you Cheromaniac for your response. I would suppose new rods do sound better when you put it that way.

I have a Forged Piston and complementary forged bushed steel connectiing rod package that is attractively priced.
One of the many benefits of my piston is the diverse choices in dish volumes. I keep on the shelf.030/4.6 and .060/4.7 dish volumes from 12cc to 30cc in 2cc increments. That way you're building your piston around your engine, rather than building your engine around the 944 piston.
I'm just now finishing up on digitizing my ported Edelbrock chamber so I'll be offering a separate custom piston for that application.
Feel free to shoot me an email and I'd be happy to send you out information on my products, kits, and ported heads and manifolds.
Thanks,

Sounds awesome Russ. I’ll try to email either later this evening or tomorrow. I’m really looking forward to getting in touch with you. I’ve read a lot of great things from your end on this forum.

I did manage to get email sent out yesterday (kids and wife like to keep me busy after work). I believe it was around a quarter til 6 your time, since I live in southwest Missouri.
