Piston identification help!
Can anyone help me identify these pistons. I bought a jeep with a 4.6 stroker that is said to have about 3000 miles on the build. It developed a knock and owner decided to sell the whole rig. I bought the jeep with the idea of putting a 4.0 back in it until I discovered the power the stroker has. Tore into it to find the damage and #6 and #1 pistons were installed backwards from the other four. When I got them out the passenger side of those two pistons looked rough. #6 looked terrible. I'll try to attach pictures.

Re: Piston identification help!
Measure the rod length from the center of the big end to the center of the small end, and measure the piston height from the center of the pin to the crown.
Then we can tell you what rod/piston combination you have.

Looks kinda like an Icon piston but don't hold me to that.

Re: Piston identification help!
Thanks I'll get those measurements as soon as I can. If I can figure out all the details of this engine i think I will be a lot better off moving forward. The block has a casting of 53008405, the rods are 544, and the head is 7120. Supposedly is has 24# Ford injectors. I'm still trying to determine other components.

Re: Piston identification help!
Jeep is at my buddies house, he sent me these measurements.
1.382 center of small end of rod to top of piston
6.062 center to center of rod
.040 head gasket (I've seen that mentioned in a lot of threads, just throwing that out there.

With those measurements, more than likely 4.0L rods & ICON IC944 pistons.

Re: Piston identification help!
You'll want to measure the piston in relationship to the deck surface at TDC to anticipate what your static compression ratio was or will be.
With the amount of scuffing done to that piston, I'd advise you to take your bore to a .040 to .060 with a new set of pistons.
If you send me a email I'd be happy to quote you a set of replacement icon 944 pistons, or a set of my customs that will be about the same price.

Re: Piston identification help!
Thanks for the information. I think for now I'm going to shelf the stroker and go back with a stick 4.0 for now
