I have a 4.0 1998 motor Good compression sitting in the Garage with head valve cover and block together.
The 258 is running in my truck but has oil leaks, on distributor side along cylinder head.
Seems, gasket failed a little on Oil passage way areas.. I put the 4.0 oil pump into it bc the old one was worn.
The Cylinder head Gasket just needs to be resealed and set I suppose to stop leaks on side of oil seepage.
I was thinking though would it be easier to build something cooler better or combine 4.0 head to 258 or
just throw in 4.0 and carb it with 258 ingredients? I could just take the crank out of 258 and put in 4.0...
with Rods? or just Use 4.0 longer ones? hmm... idk what to do. I just recently bought a jeep engine or an AMC
as they called it back then in 74, from a javelin. Cool motors... smooth,.. hmm just wondering what to do,, any advice?
Thanks

Use the 258 crank and rebuild your '98 4.0 into a 4.6L stroker with the longer 4.0L rods & custom pistons. You can sell the 258 block, 258 head, 258 rods, and 4.0L crank in eBay while the rest can go to a scrap metal merchant.
