Trying to decide on first stroke

Post by razoraxis »

Hi, I am trying to understand/decide how to go about building a stroker for my 99 cherokee. I am confused as to 4.2, 4.6 etc as they seem to put out similar power. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The 4.2 might produce similar HP to the 4.6 depending on engine specs, but the 4.6 will produce its HP at lower peak rpm and make about 25lbft more peak torque. At lower rpm, the difference in torque output will be even greater so the 4.6 will support taller axle gearing for better highway fuel economy.

Ok I see now. I wasn't paying attention to the rpms... (woops). So when it says 4.2L 3.895" stroke crank is this a crabk that has had work or a special build? How do I determine its the correct one?

Also the ported heads, do I buy those some where or can I have the machine shop port them? Is it the same?

The mini stroker's rely on a 232 3.500 stroke crank.
The main benefit from this combination is being able to utilize the longer 4.0 rod and a inexpensive cast 4.0 piston.

The 4.6/4.7 combination will need a upgraded forged piston that I and others can provide for you.
If your budget could swing it it's definitely worth going
with a 4.6/4.7 build.

If you call or email me I'd be happy to discuss the benefits and cost options on a ported cylinder head.
