Torqued Felpro gasket too much

Post by GarrettXJ93 »

So it was getting late and i read the torque specs wrong for my oil pan gasket and over torqued by quite a bit. Untorqued bolts but i was wondering if the gasket would still be good to use? Its one of the Felpro blue silicon gaskets. I mean if it wouldn't be hard to replace after the engine was in the Jeep if it did start leaking but i'd rather take care of it now if i should. Any opinions help, thanks.

You should be ok. The gasket has a steel core and I don't know how much you could have over torqued the gasket without those small bolts breaking. Its also new and hasn't taken a set yet.
