Just bought a 2000 Jeep Wrangler.....

Post by Cobweb1975 »

It is a nice Jeep that I acquired 3rd party through consignment. For this reason I am not able to contact the original owner for information. My question is, from talking to the person I bought it from, the Jeep has a stroker engine (which it does). Is there a way to tell what liter the 4.0 is now (externally)? I know the engine had a complete rebuild, including pistons, crank, aluminum head, etc, and I believe he said it was bored .60 over.

Externally you wouldn't know the difference between a 4.0 and a stroker. You could pull the oil pan and check the casting no. on the crank to confirm that it's from a 258.
If you can get the list of parts that went into the engine and receipts for the work done, that info. would help tremendously.

Maybe call local shops and see if they have built any recently ?

See if injector sizes are different than stock. Could be a clue.
