Moving at a snail's pace with this build. Anyway, right now I have a 92 XJ OBI system, just a few more wires to connect then the first crank. I just saw a OBII (97 TJ) complete engine wire harness with ECU for a manual tranny on CL. What would be better, OBI or II. pros / cons.
The engine is 4.6 poor-man's stroker, bored .30. Also had to do .30 for the cam bearings. Stock 4.0 cam (1993 vintage), 2000+ intake, ford 5.0 modified TB, ford 24lb injectors, and power stroke? (can't remember, I know that are not forged) pistons. I have a high psi fuel pump (90gpm) with external adj regulator 20-60psi. Still need to make the MAP sensor and weld in the exhaust bung for the wide band O2 sensor. After I get this running I eventually want to put a turbo on for just like 5-8 psi of boost. All this is in a 83 Cherokee (the BIG Cherokee, Grand Wagoneer size)
thanks for help/thoughts

Re: OBI or OBII
OBD 2 is actually better due to the fact of a better regulated fuel pattern.

Sounds like you're doing a virtual copy of my stroker.Zorm wrote:Moving at a snail's pace with this build. Since you plan to go turbo, OBD 2 would be the better choice as the ECU can be custom programmed unlike OBD 1.

cool, ok, yes Cheromaniac, a lot of what you have done I have tried to mirror. Sad this is that its been 4 years since I removed the 285 out of the Cherokee and it still sits in my work area wanting to get back on the road.
