Supercharge issue
Hello
a friend refer me this board because of the variaty of possible setup people running and probably see all problem know about 4.0L
ok now
i have a
2005 LJ 4.0
manualle 6 speed
Atlas 4
Dana 44 with 4.88
on the engine i put a Avenger supercharge with 8 psi pulley
engine is stock, but i have match head to intake and manifodl
i have a jba headers
62mm throttle body with cai
aluminum Rad, with oem fan
hiflow ther housing
440 cc injector (flow tested) at 75-83%
i try the Denso plug suggered by Avengers ( new with 0.035 and 0.020 gap), but i put back the one that come with it, new champion rc12lc4 with .020 gap
aem uego wideband
i change the oem downpipe, for a one with no o2 and no cat. (deleted with CMR)
i dont get the tuned from Avenger, i bought a 2003 used SC. so i get no basic setting
it's run wll also on 260cc injector but there not sufficiant
i have no vaccum leak
temp always right
i get 2 dyno session of 6-8 hours for the tuning
it been tune with CMR using a diablo
on dyno ....it's fine, it's look like perfect
now, my problem :
on street i have 2 problems (i know)
when running like fine .... hop P2074 appear and shutdown the engine (+ - 2800 rpm)
and at cruise at 2300 rpm, it's running rich, smoke more than a Cummins, and produce a missfire feeling Wideband stuck at 10.
thanks

Re: Supercharge issue
Where is your MAP sensor located? Is it still located on the throttle body?
How is it plumbed? Is it plumbed before or after the supercharger? Does it 'see' boost?

Re: Supercharge issue
x2 Where is the MAP sensor hooked to?
Also, Where is the bypass valve hooked to and is it working?
The problem happens when you are just cruising, no major acceleration?

Re: Supercharge issue
Are you just using the wide band for monitoring only, and have it set-up to run in open loop only? Is your MAP sensor boost capable?quebec4x4 wrote:

Re: Supercharge issue
the map is still on the throttle body, but take it's reading on the intake. yes i see boost.
the waste gate also is on the intake. after the SC
the wideband is only for monitoring, and wired to the diablo to be able to log

Re: Supercharge issue
With the MAP sensor plumbed to the intake and it see's boost, It will output too high a voltage when in boost and the ECU will make a code. You can get a map clamp, and limit the voltage output to prevent a code light.

Re: Supercharge issue
That isn't going to help anything. He would still need some way to increase fuel when in boost.
He never did answer the question if he has the stock MAP sensor or an aftermarket 2 bar sensor.
Are you sure the bypass valve is working? Or are you really running a waste gate?

Re: Supercharge issue
i still use the factory 4.0 map (never talk about changing it in the instruction either where to plug the wastegate)
the wastegate is new, it's a mercedes (it come broken in shipping) i see it open (piston going in) on dyno until we reach the max psi

Re: Supercharge issue
The stock map does not work with boost. You need a 2bar map sensor and the PCM reprogrammed to utilize it.

Re: Supercharge issue
I have a couple of questions / points:return:
1.if you have spent 6 to 8 hours on 2 different tuning sessions is there a chance you would consider taking the truck back to the tuner to have them address these drivability issues? certainly with that much investment in time in tuning you would expect the tuner to have covered all normal drivability and you should not have code popping up.
2.have you done any data logging with your handheld Diablo prigrammer and data viewer ? if so post them up and I'll have a look if not I suggest you go to the DiabloSport website and download that app and do some data logging. just using their standard template with them around town driving will answer a lot of questions.
3.if you send me your original back up in your current tune I can have a look

i dont do any data by myself, but i pretty sure they have some log there. But like i said, on dyno the truck is fine and marvellous , shit happen on the road.christuned wrote:2.have you done any data logging with your handheld Diablo prigrammer and data viewer ? if so post them up and I'll have a look if not I suggest you go to the DiabloSport website and download that app and do some data logging. just using their standard template with them around town driving will answer a lot of questions.
i will ask him to come here share his data. their answer will better than mine.christuned wrote:3.if you send me your original back up in your current tune I can have a look

Re: Supercharge issue
He has 440cc injectors which are like 40-42lb/hr injectors. That is plenty of fuel for boost.SilverXJ wrote:He would still need some way to increase fuel when in boost.

Re: Supercharge issue
That all well and good, but what is controlling them when in boost? The PCM with the stock MAP certainly isn't.

will also put the build into the project section tonight.
