Where to buy 4.2 crank?

Hey yall, my 97 XJ snapped a wrist pin a few weeks ago so I want to rebuild my engine as a 4.7 stroker. I have been doing large amounts of research and have talked with Russ Pottenger and picked his brain quite a bit. I have pretty much narrowed down my choices in parts like pistons, connecting rods, cam shaft, etc.

But I was curious as to where I can find a crankshaft and the rods? They seem a little hard to track down.

Also I have read that the heavy 12 weight crank is more desirable but has a longer snout than my 4.0 crank, what problems does the longer snout cause and how are they fixed should I track down a heavy weight crank shaft?

When I was looking for one none of the name brand stores had one available. Your best bet is to find a used one and have it reman'ed, that's what I did. As far as new ones Scat sells them.

Hi Ben,

If you can't find a 258 crankshaft locally I can offer you some options.
As we discussed earlier my preference and first choice for street/trail application would be the 12 counterweight factory
258 crankshaft.

After that there's lots of circumstances that come to play. Budget and ability to buy and find a 4 counterweight cheep
enough is a factor. Example. Say you locate a crank on the high side lets say $150.00. you put another $100.00 to $125.00 to have it checked out such as clean and grind. If it has the long snout you make or buy the spacer. I sell mine for $45.00. At this point you have a few bucks in it.
For about a hundred bucks more you can get a Scat, and you'll have a better crank. I have 5 in stock, boxed and ready to ship. , ..... Just sayin. Lol
