External tac connection? brake in oil.
Ok, been a few years http://www.jeepstrokers.com/forum/viewt ... =15&t=2860
but engine in,wiring finally figured out, maybe. So since It may be a few days, or weeks from starting this engine, is there a good brake in oil? Right now I have 20w40 in.
The engine wire harness I have is from a 92 Cherokee, cut out most of the stuff I do not need from the 92 harness for the 83 Cherokee. So for the cam brake in, I need to see the RPM, can I use the RPM signal wire from the ECM or is there another way?

ok, no reply's.
So, when I do fire off the engine to do the cam brake in, can I use the stock MAP sensor or do I need to make the one I can adjust the voltage on.

Re: External tac connection? brake in oil.
More questions, if anyone is looking. My stroker is going in a SJ Cherokee, was carbed. So now with MFI, I have the right pump, filters and a regulator in place. Thing is, as I do the wiring, (engine harness from a 91/92 Cherokee) it has a ballast resistor for the fuel pump. So now I have two wires that go to the + side of the pump?

Just eliminate the resistor.

Reduces noise from the fuel pump. Not necessary. Just put a piece of wire in its place.

I used Brad Penn sae-30 break-in oil for the cam break-in and then for the first 500mi.

Cool, thanks for the info. Any idea of a tach signal I can use or another way to see the rim for the brake in?

The RPM signal comes from the Cam sensor in the dizzy.

I can try and look for it but what wire, or can I use the wire that comes off the ecu?

Re: External tac connection? brake in oil.
I lost all of the XJ pdf manuals that I had gotten from GreatLakesXJ when my last hard drive crashed, so I can't help you without doing online research that you can do(I really want them back if someone wants to send them to me--I help the community with that info. .
. I do believe the signal wire is the middle of the three coming off the dizzy, so you might be able to see the color of that wire at the harness side of dizzy connection and then locate it at the pcm(ohm it out to verify), then tap it there.

Re: External tac connection? brake in oil.
Again, for the brake in run, I can use the original MAP sensor, and O2 sensor?
Then after that, I have the wide band O2 sensor, I need to figure out what wires on the old sensor splice to the wires on the wide band sensor.

I have a service manual for 1994 XJ, it helped my when I was converting my 258 to JY mpi. I'm not sure what you need, but I hope these help.

Re: External tac connection? brake in oil.
You will use stock map sensor and o2 sensor(s) and you will add an o2 bung for a separate wide-band o2 sensor to monitor afrs. There will be no splicing unless you decide to get a wideband o2 with narrowband output that'll feed the pcm and decide to use an existing o2 bung.
