Ok the pistons I plan on are Silvolite 3454's. They have a 29 cc dish according too Silvolite's tech service, a 1.660 comp. height and .927 pin. $15 to have the pin resized and the tops cut to a zero deck according to my machinist. That will be a total cost of $249 for the pistons. Going on my calculations removing .030 from the tops of the pistons will give me a 28 cc dish. That will give a 9.14 scr and a 7.71 dcr with the cam and altitude figured in at a .030 overbore. and 9.27 scr and 7.82 dcr at .060 over. Thoughts?

Those are for a Chevy 250 cu. in 6. Have you checked to shape of the piston bowl and compared it to the shape of the
Jeep Piston bowl? If you use the Chevy piston, how are you getting any quench area? Why not just order the correct Jeep pistons with a 28 cc bowl that fits the Jeep head and keeps the zero deck quench of .043? To save $200 so you can buy Premium gas?
To me, it is penny wise and Pound foolish.

I'm just didn't realize that the shape of the dish had that much effect. I'll go with the Bullrear pistons. I just thought I had found an alternative that may be a little easier on the wallet.

When it comes to quench/squish it plays a big part. If the flat parts on the piston crown don't meet the flat parts on the head then the quench effect won't work.
