Is This Deal On a ZJ With Stroker Engine Worth It?

Post by CburbXJ »

So i found this on craigslist for 1900 bucks, and honestly i just want the engine if its in good shape its worth it to me compared to building one, alot of the other stuff i would just sell. Would it be that much of a pain to get this engine to work in my 94 xj with ax-15, this grand is a 97 with an aw4 hooked up, ive never swapped engines on these so not sure if i could just use old sensors and hook up to my obd1 stuff. let me know input on this , good chance i might try to work out a deal. thanks.

All you need to do is swap sensors over. There may be a bit of difference in the oil filter adapter, but doubtful. How many miles on it?

He said 20k miles, i think the engine was done few years ago he said. honestly for the price and im gonna trade him a ranger i have i gonna do the deal. Theres plenty of things i could also sell out of it to make my money back even with keeping the engine. I thought that most 4.0s were interchangeable but wanted to be sure i wouldnt have any problems since his is obd2 with an aw4.

Alright i think im going to go get this jeep sunday, i got a bunch of info from him and he has all the paperwork so we will see, ill check as much as i can even though it doesnt run.

Does anyone know how to physically check to see if its stroked just to do it? can i take a measurement at no.1 TDC on my 4.0 jeep then compare to his 4.6 stroker jeep through sparkplug hole, thanks.

sorry for the late reply to posting just noticed it.

If you haven't already committed and just looking for a new engine or better then the one you have for that price check out this site.

https://www.sandjengines.com

they do a remanufactured block and will put a stroked crankshaft. It is a scat crank - no other parts are fancy forged or hypereutectic pistons and such it's all OE stuff pretty much. However, warranty 7 years or 100,000 miles. If you are ok with out the bells and whistles of the higher end parts.

/cheers
