That must have been prior to Johnson's purchase by Topline/others (whole history behind that). From what I found the lifters with "Johnson" Printed on the side are old and good. I don't know who makes the Sealed Powers or Clevites today. Mine don't have "Johnson" Printed on the side, but i do know whey are made in the US. Nor do I have access to one to compare to my library of lifters..lol

I've heard on several occasions that there are only 2 or 3 companies even making lifters anymore. Your work here appears to disprove that unless the same 2 places are turning out 2-3 variations each. Nice job.

Only 2 places in the US that may be making lifters. There is still a bunch of over seas lifters.

The R indicates that it's a lifter intended for use higher revving applications where it will resist pumping up. Steer away from Sealed Power and OEM replacement lifters for this application. The quality control on these particular lifters is inferior and many are manufactured in Mexico.

As stated by others on this forum... stick with Johnson/Hylift who is owned by Topline or use factory Mopar tappets. I've contacted Crower and they said they source their lifters from Johnson. I've been using Crower lifters in all the Mopar/Jeep builds I've done lately with good success. The "2011" lifter part number should be avoided. I have no idea why but, I've seen some very poor machining and inconsistent quality control with these particular lifters. Good luck.

That is the same part number that Johnson uses.

Thx for the correction... I meant to say any 2011 from all parts stores and Aftermarket suppliers except for Crower and Johnson. The Mopar guys are having the same problems with these lifters.

FWIW, the MOPAR lifters that came in my 229AC have been working fine.
If it feels right, then STROKE it!
