Injector Selection Can make your head explode

Post by markw »

My first stroker build should be done in couple weeks. I'm having Russ Pottenger of Bishop Buell build it.

Quick specs are 4.7 .060 over
Sealed power pistons with machined dishes on short rods. 9.2:1 CR
Comp cams 68-231-4 with 113 lsa.

The cylinder heads russ does are NICE. I'll get some pictures when it's done I was drooling over another one he did.
He uses LS1 valves and springs. Reworks the chamber to unshroud the valve, and does some bowl work and port matches.

The big question is what injector to run.

Punching in 270HP and .47 BSFC I get a 24.91 LB/Hr.

I keep coming back to the 0280150947 ford 24lb which has the newer 4 hole plate design and the EV1 connector. I'm seeing some variation in ratings on it, but my thought was run this injector with a 49psi regulator.

Specs on this injector are (from 50 motorsports site)
43.5psi 24lb/hr
50 psi 25.5lb/hr
58 psi 28 lb/hr

Is this going to be a good choice, it looks like it should work. The stock injectors (jeep is a 95) are 23.6lb/hr but they're pintle.

Is there another one that would be recommended? I keep seeing reference to the 703 neon ones, but those flow less than the FMS blue tops.

Thanks,
Mark

I'm getting 26.4lb/hr using 270hp, a BSFC of 0.47, 6 cylinders, and an 80% duty cycle.
Unless your head is ported, the output will be more like 250hp so your choice of injectors would be spot on.

No, the head is ported. LS1 Valves with intake/exhaust port work and chamber work. Pictures to follow, sent a head to him a couple weekends ago.

The stock '95 injectors flow 21.0 @ 39psi.
Since your stroker will put out an estimated 270hp, I suggest you run these injectors:
