No mopar 5249464 Valve springs- alternatives??
Soo I have contacted 6 suppliers at least for these springs- still waiting for one to get back to me.
As far as I can tell there are 3 springs in washington and some500+ springs on back order.
I have already ordered the performance spring retainers and valve locks.
soooo using either stock spring retainers or the performance ones can anybody suggest a valve spring that can be used instead, without machining.
it will be to fit a comp cams 232 cam
thanks and regards,

Supposedly the gm 3200-3400 Venice springs will work, I haven't tried yet though, my moparts connection got me the springs and locks in two weeks, that was six months ago though

Thanks for the reply.
I looked up gm 3200-3400 Venice could get nothing that made sense on google or wikipidia. - What year would this GM venice be? - might have more luck with rock auto.
Also A search for "my mpoar connection" was a bust.

Take specs subtract 20% from the lightest you think you need and then call PAC. Let PAC do the homework.
These engines don`t run enough RPM to justify HD spring rates nor are the typical cam profiles dictating much spring. All your doing is loading the lifter more.
I would have to look at my notes but I took the recommended Hesco spring for my Hesco cam and knocked the pressures way down. The timing and injector phasing allow for 55-5600 rev limits and the valves do not float.

What springs did you actually use? part number? specs?jsawduste wrote:Take specs subtract 20% from the lightest you think you need and then call PAC. Let PAC do the homework.

HESSPRSS6 springs.
Bennie`s recommended 1.7 installed height is too much at 135ish on the seat
Cutting the seat to 1.8 drops the pressures down to 115 on the seat and 245ish @.500.
Perhaps Hesco has speced different pressures over the years because the rates have changed from one generation to the next.

Re: No mopar 5249464 Valve springs- alternatives??
Thanks.
There were no specs on hesco site for these springs.
seem like 260 lb/in which seems about right.
I wonder why only for single groove valves? I wonder why not for '98+ with 3 groove valves and locks. I thought they both were 8mm 8*.
What is there for the 3 groove valves and locks?

Re: No mopar 5249464 Valve springs- alternatives??
Engle Cams has a couple of possibilities.
#593 220 pound/inch 1.80"=95psi seat 0.450" lift= 190psi, -or- at 1.65"=125psi seat 0.450"=215psi
#696/697 250 pound/inch 1.65"= 105psi seat 0.450" lift=220psi
#6612 280 pound/inch 1.65"= 110psi seat 0.450" lift=235psi
Need to find out the diameters of these springs.
I wonder who makes their springs?
