eBay Cylinder head experience?

Post by tysonxj »

Does anyone have experience with some of the heads available on eBay? Some have larger valves, and are supposedly ported. Most seem to be the new casting version of 0331.

There used to be one by CLEGG I think, also.

If they are decent, the price seems reasonable-

Thanks,

Re: eBay Cylinder head experience?

I don't remember who I purchased from on eBay, but I bought my 7120 head off there. It was ported and polished and supposedly had a valve job, shaved etc. DONT get the ones with Larger valves.. it will end up hurting more than helping if your doing a standard Stroker.

When I received the head, it had surface rust which was off putting so I had to have it shaved again. In addition, the machine shop I used checked it over and found that the exhaust valves were ok, but the intake valves were not done well... Bad enough to see light though them. I had them go ahead an do a valve job. So really the thing I got out of the eBay head was the porting and polishing. The seller did refund me "some" money. Not sure if I would do it again from eBay (50/50), but the head has been working fine since I built the Stroker. FWIW I did replace the springs and used the valves that came with the head.. so that could have potentially made my experience a bit better as well.

Some of this is covered in my build thread too.

Good Luck
If it feels right, then STROKE it!
