Maybe too much prelube blocked up the oil passages?

I thought prelube was supposed to dissolve in oil, and I also prelubed the lifters and pushrods and rockers. Also I used this red synthetic stuff..can't remember the name but it seemed pretty pliable, I don't think it would have blocked 40 psi oil

I thought I would have no issues
What were your bearing clearances? What kind of prelube did you use? I really cannot see that plugging the passages, I would think your clearances were too tight.

Mine went right to 70 on prime as well and ran at 70 for quite awhile. Now it is 40psi at idle hot but goes to 70 pretty quick. This was with Lucas SAE30 break-in oil. I never saw any shiny particles in the oil and it has ~1,500 on it now. I used Lucas assembly lube (pretty much thick oil) on everything except the cam. The cam got the Joe Gibbs lube that came with it.
