map adjuster 1998 xj
Hi, finally got the time to install my map adjuster on my 4.6 stroker. I set the adjusted voltage to 5.22v and took it for a ride. It was running much better than being on the stock voltages until I stopped filled the tank and then the check engine flashed up. I got home and ran the code scan and it came up as no 5 volts to the map. I now am thinking the adjuster is not going to be able to be used to address the slight ping I have under load pulling a long incline at 50 mph in overdrive
I would appreciate any insight on what my alternatives are.

The OBD2 JTEC will readjust itself back to the MAP voltage parameter set by the programming. In other words, a MAP voltage pot. will not work with OBD2.

It will work, but only in open loop. However, it sounds like your case it won't as it sounds like it is in closed loop.

Your correct Chris, my bad on the open/closed loop aspect.SilverXJ wrote:It will work, but only in open loop. However, it sounds like your case it won't as it sounds like it is in closed loop.

"it came up as no 5 volts to the map" What was the code?
Did the MAP adjuster stop working?

I believe it was #1296 and the adjuster was still working as intended. I am going to try using a 5.18 voltage today (non adjusted when warm is 5.16) and see what that does.

Re: map adjuster 1998 xj
update: I found out what is causing the problem. I had hooked into the brake pressure switch feed. I made one mistake when I checked for voltage I did not try to crank the engine, the result is when cranked the voltage is cut off leaving me with no voltage to run the adjuster. I found this by digging around on line for causes of this code and on a viper forum found a guy who had the same issue. I think all I have to do is locate a better source for power and things will be good.
