Springs for Comp Cams 68-232-4 - Mopar Discontinued
Hey Yall,
Finishing my stroker build. I have the comp cams 68-232-4 and I originally purchased the comp cams recommended springs. Once we received them we realized a couple of major issues... Stiffness and how they fasten. The guy I am building with did not feel comfortable with them.
So, I ordered the mopar performance springs #5249464 with retainers #4452032, & locks #4529218. Here's the problem. Mopar isn't making them any more!! So, I can't get those springs and I don't want the comp cam ones. What is my next best option?
Please Help!!

Couple choices you might look into- these would be very close to the MP springs-
Scorpion 1214 conical [email protected]" install height, [email protected]"(0.450"lift)
CompCams 26125 install at 1.70-1.72" install height, [email protected]" install height, [email protected]"(0.450"lift)
Any others?

I am in the same situation buddy. When I talked to Lunati cams they recommend Hughes Engines for the springs and retainers. I just called them this morning and they gave me the part numbers for the springs and retainers. They also fit into the stock cylinder head location without having to bore it out some. I will be ordering these with my cam.
Part#
1110 - springs $6.55 x 12 = 78.60
1278 - retainers $ 48.00 - they sell these online as a set of 16 for $64 but if you call them they will give you only 12
And the original valve stem locks will work with this setup.
I guess you will need to check your lift on the cam you are going to use to make sure that the springs will work for you.
I hope this helps. The guy I talked to was very helpful.
Has anyone had experience with Hughes?

IDK but I think that those numbers are higher than the MP springs.

So do you think the Hughes springs have to much pressure then? Maybe they have a lighter spring or is that not that much difference?

Fawk, that is way to much SP. Cut the numbers by damn near 50% and you`ll be happier.broncocliff wrote:Installed Height/Pressure: 1.660"--120#
