Quench?

Post by xjjeepcjs »

First off, please don't nail me on this too bad... This is my first motor I have done that has not been stock. Motor is installed, but have not yet fired it up. I am in panic/ did I do this wrong paranoid mode. Please give guidance.

Cam timing is good with reference to sprockets and TDC. Cam position sensor is properly installed in relation to TDC 1. Can the dealer still do the fuel timing on a stroker?

I did not deck my block. Dont ask. I was thinking low CR. How bad will it be to have a reliable motor if my quench is .0795 with a CR 0f 9.21 to 1?

What issues am I heading for?

Fuel sync/cam sync (same thing, different name) is best verified by DRBIII or equivalent scantool. Your run of the mill 4.6 needs about a +5 sync setting. More camshaft means a higher positive value.

Thank you. I wrote your number down today. I plan to call you this week about the materials I need to datalog and have you tune the motor if you think it would need it.

Any problems you see with the quench related to my compression? I ran the numbers again today to ensure that is what they are. A bit paranoid right now, and probably for no reason. Yet, anxiety still runs amouk.

When you say +5 does that mean the injectors will open sooner or later than stock?

My stroker's been running like that for 75k miles so I don't think you need to worry about reliability.

Thank you! Ran all the numbers again last night... I am just having pre-start jitters. A long week at work has knocked me mentally. I read your posts last night after I ran the numbers again and it reassured me. I have intended for this to run pump gas so when we do excursion runs I do not have to worry about fuel types, and hopefully elevation issues. At altitude I will just carry some precautionary octane boost. My hope is to turbo it down the road.

Next step after starting it and working the break in is to have Ryan tune it or check it to see if it is running efficiently.

I appreciate the documentation that all you forum members have done. It really helps a newbie like me.
