Yea, but I'm a "while I'm in there" kind of guy and this $500 job turns into a $3500 one real quick

Yep if the head is off then it becomes well.... might as well do valves, springs, valve job, port/polish/match and cam swap :-) I have not confirmed this yet but supposedly my 505 Perf (purple rockers) are 1.7 ratio. At least that is what is in the email Zach sent me when I purchased them. I seem to recall when I degreed the cam that the lift #'s matched a 1.7 ratio but will have to re-check when the engine goes back together... AGAIN.

Anything over 1.6 ratio will normally hit the head. You can get Yella Terra 1.7 adjustable and non-adjustable rockers, I like to use non-adjustable Yella Terra rockers with a custom length pushrod so the stock height valve cover can be utilized. I always machine or hand grind the pushrod openings to allow for larger custom pushrods, especially for added rocker ratio. In my opinion its not worth the reward unless you really take a swing at it, such as cam and port work. Also, the rollers tend to be on the noisey side for daily drivers.

I can't disagree more. I've had them installed and running in my jeep since not long after I posted. They are lighter and stronger, they do NOT hit anything, and are Much Much Much MORE quiet then factory.
