FWIW ended up ditching the used cover I found on CL. Just was not satisfied that I could get the area above the baffle clean enough. Turns out Rock Auto sells a Dorman replacement cover that includes the grommet, oil fill cap, hardware and a new gasket. With a discount code it was about 75 bucks to the door. If you figure the cost of a used cover plus the parts and gasket kit the price is PDG.

The cover is decently made and comes in a black powdercoat finish. I removed the grommets and fill cap, scuffed up the surface with some Scotchbrite and painted it.

The stock bolts are 1 1/4 in length including the head. I purchased a set of 15 stainless steel 1/4 x 20 studs from McMaster Carr to replace the bolts. I went to 2 inchers because of the VC spacer to clear the roller rockers but that`s a different story.

Dorman 47079 and 47057 are the two elbows with the open one in the front of the VC.

How are you sealing the spacer to the head? Hesco's recommended method with anaerobic sealant or something else?

For the past 25,000 miles it`s been the simple cork gaskets on both sides with no sealant. No leaks no problems.

On the new install I am looking at the Felpro Valve Cover Gasket Set VS 50522 T on the bottom because it does not have the metal bridges and is tighter fit around the fastener holes.

Then the Felpro VS 50458 R on the top half which matches up to the grommets/spacers used in the steel VC. The clone of which that was included with the cover from RA..

Gotta figure out how to piss away 25 bucks to get the free shipping and 25 buck discount Advance offers as the VS 50522 T is not a stocked item at any of the stores around me. Maybe some tire shine or some crap. :hrhr:
