Re: Carb'd 4.6 Questions
Got it fixed and back together. then I caught the whole side of the engine on fire from all the raw fuel that has been spit out of the header yesterday and today. Scared the crap out of me. At least I am getting combustion though. Haven't gotten it to actually run yet though. Tomorrow. Thanks for your help Silver.

Congrats. Sounds mean! What exhaust do you have, or none?

Re: Carb'd 4.6 Questions
It is just an open header right now that's why it sounds like a friggin dragster. APN header. Which by the way does not fit with the stock 4.2 intake without some ball-peen hammer adjustments.
I am sure it needs some fine tuning with the timing though.

Re: Carb'd 4.6 Questions
Part of that is the open header, part of it is that it is probably still a ways off on timing, and part of it is that the mic on a Samsung phone can't be that great can it?

Re: Carb'd 4.6 Questions

Re: Carb'd 4.6 Questions
it cracks and pops like everything else I have ever heard with open headers.
Drove it for the first time today. Just around the neighborhood, then when pulling out on to the road I gave it no more than 1/2 throttle and did this.

I am still laughing about it. I built this thing for torque but damn. My old 4.2 couldn't hurt my drivetrain if it tried! I know 3.07's and 33's don't do any favors for the pinion yoke but it is still funny.
Also, I noticed when I started it up that it doesn't want to stay running with the choke set, even when cold, so this carb must really be choking this engine down.

Oh God...Please tell me that's your front yoke.
*looks at angled shock tower*
It's the rear yoke isn't it? Jesus...

It's the rear. Not sure where you are going with that comment?

Re: Carb'd 4.6 Questions
You went from a tired 4.2L to a mild 4.6L stroker.
I'm jumping from an extremely anemic maybe 90HP carb'd 4.2L to a wild (Hopefully ~170HP) EFI'd 4.7L.
You managed to tear up the rear yoke in your Jeep. My Eagle also shares this history and I'm using an identical swap from a later Eagle's Model 35 with the 2.73 gearing.
For over a year I've been planning on switching to Dana 44 with 3.08 gears and then I see this gnarly mess.
I am so screwed! (´・ω・`)
