I'd get a salvage one then have the machine shop go through it. Many of those rebuilding houses don't do a great job.

Re: 4.6L "Modified Poor man's" stroker
We ended up getting another head which he is working on now. But he told us with this being a stroker that he couldn't source all the parts from his supplier
. So were gonna start ordering parts today. He said one thing he didn't like was that we planned to get the crank from O'Reilly's and when he called them they said that they only had reman'd ones in stock. He recommended us getting a Scat crank so we wouldn't have to worry about tolerances being off so I suppose i'll have to accept the $400 price tag. But i'll definatly be stalking Ebay for a while today.

Re: 4.6L "Modified Poor man's" stroker
Well in the process of ordering stuff and almost forgot I need to redo my exhaust. I like the idea of running a split header into a true dual exhaust but just looking at headers right now. What kind of configuring would I have to do with the O2 sensors? I saw this pace-setter header and it looks like what I need.Any thoughts?

Re: 4.6L "Modified Poor man's" stroker
Well after a little bit of research a true dual exhaust isn't what i'm gonna do. Instead i'm going to get an ebay exhaust header, 2.5" walker downpipe, cat, a cheaper muffler(I need to find one that sounds good but isnt $100), then a 90 degree tip going out in front of the passenger tire. That way I can clamp everything up then drive it to my collision repair shop to get welded up when we get to that point.

??? Not sure if that's an estimate but before you spend that kind of money on your pistons (call titan) they don't have the best track record I know but I got my .30 kb ic944 pistons from them about 365$ a few months ago they were very nice on the phone and fast shipping also all pistons were in spec

Re: 4.6L "Modified Poor man's" stroker
I'll second the recommendation to call Titan for the pistons and rings. I bought mine from them recently off their ebay auction. Paid $365 for the pistons shipped plus another $50 for moly rings. They actually have great customer service. I was doing my mockup this week to determine how much to deck the block and was trying to use one of those wavy ring compressors and ended up breaking a top ring. Called them up to see what I was going to have to do to get another one and they ended up pulling one from a partial set in their build shop and sending it to me for the cost of shipping.

Re: 4.6L "Modified Poor man's" stroker
Almost all the parts have been ordered and are on the way. One thing we haven't ordered are injectors. Were trying to avoid spending $200 on just injectors. Are their any that I could grab from a junkyard and freshen up that'll work with my 49 psi fuel rail. Looking at some threads I got pretty confused because some of the advice was just for the 39 psi rail.

Re: 4.6L "Modified Poor man's" stroker
I read somewhere here that the neon 703 injectors will flow at 24# exactly. I could pick up a set of those and put new seals in like i've seen a few members do on here so its a little on the cheaper side.

Re: 4.6L "Modified Poor man's" stroker
They will flow right around 24# at 49psi fuel pressure. Careful buying salvage yard injectors as they tend to be clogged or partially clogged.

Re: 4.6L "Modified Poor man's" stroker
I agree with silvers comment on junkyard injectors because you never really know the history or miles on em ect.
But in a pinch or on a budget there are ways to clean the insides of them with some alligator clips on wires and a 12v battery, there's a decent video on YouTube on how to do it I've done it and either got lucky or it worked
If you do go that route its ALWAYS a good idea to replace o-rings and pintle caps!
Also the 703s are in a lot of Chrysler/dodge cars not only neons!
