ignition signal for megasquirt
Need some opinions. My Comanche is already tutbocharged but is also getting stroked. I'm running megasquirt. I have a 6 window shutter wheel from a straight six ford. My question is wil it be easier to modify the stock dizzy and sensor for this or should I get a distributor from an older 4.2 and use the factory 6 tooth wheel and vr sensor in it?

Re: ignition signal for megasquirt
i'm currently running the stock distributor and i switched to a hall sensor instead of the stock vr sensor for the crank. the halls came out of any 93+ cherokee. reason i switched to the hall is because the vr sensor jeep used doesn't give a very clean signal and several people have had issues with them. think i'm the first that swapped in a stock hall sensor and used the stock vr flexplate but i'm not having any issues getting a clean signal now

Re: ignition signal for megasquirt
I'm running ms1extra. So I have to use a simple ignition input which is whuly I was wondering about the 6 window ford wheel in the distributor or an old 4.2 distributor.

Re: ignition signal for megasquirt
not familiar with ms1 but why can't you use the crank signal instead of the distributor? only thing i'd do different is put a newer style hall sensor on the crank and just use whichever flexplate/flywheel you currently have

Re: ignition signal for megasquirt
Ms1 is not setup to revieve the jeep signal from the crank. Its the simple version of ms. Thats why I need a simple 6 window sihnal.

Shawn, could you possibly do a writeup on your Megasquirt installation and a program?
