Connecting rod oil squirt hole
Got my 707 rods and pistons back from the shop, then I noticed that the oil squirt hole is on the drivers side. I checked the FSM, and is does say the oil squirt hole should face the camshaft. I dropped them off on Sat, and called him this AM. He stated he put them on, in accordance with his data. I asked which he was using (not that it should matter) but he said 258 data. He said it states the numbered side on the drivers side. the numbered side, at least on mine is the oil squirt hole side. Meaning according to his data, he did it right. WTH? Now add the fact that the new bearings have no hole? Does it really matter? If it doesn't then are we just throwing away oil pressure by modding the bearings for the hole?

His data is wrong.
The oil squirt hole really doesn't matter that much as plenty oil still gets by the rod bearings.

The oil squirt hole has been debated over and over, and I don't want to open that can of worms again but....This is just my opnion....The engineers who designed these engines had the oil sqirt hole placed there for a reason. If you put your engine together and you have a problem with piston scuffing, or camshaft wear, you will question the oil squirt hole. If you are questioning an issue while building your engine, I would do whatever needs to be done to remove any doubt and put your mind at ease.
One more thing...again this is my opinion... I would venture to say the oil squirt hole was removed from some of the aftermarket bearings to reduce manufacturing cost, and we are told that there is enough oil being slung around where the holes aren't needed.Well...with increasing the stroke on an engine and therefore increasing the side load on the piston, as well as increased lifter pressure, because of higher performance spring loads, on a flat tappet cam the has narrow lobes and a higher lift that the stock cam, and oil that has reduced zinc...I'd rather have the oil squirt holes...my opinion.

Trust me I am fine with modding the bearings for the hole, but if one has the hole, and modded the bearings, I damn sure want it on the correct side.

Agreed. I used Fedeal Mogul bearings. They had the oil hole.

Hmm, my Clevites dont, at least I am good with a dremel...lol. Anyhoo, He swapped them around, went and checked on the progress of the block, and it has been line honed but not bored or decked yet, he said middle of the week.

My bearings dont have them either and I didn't mess with it.
My opinion is that you want the oil squirt hole facing the proper direction (towards the cam) but Its not necessary to have the holes in the bearings; again just my opinion.
