Quick question,I'm sure its been covered but a quick search came up with conflicting answers my machinist talked me into using the arp rod bolts my question is are the 258&242 arp bolts the same? I'm using the 4.0 rods and I've found 2 different part #s 112-6001 &146-6001 anyone know which ones I need?
Thanks!

Yes, they are the same. I believe one is just an older part number.

The 242 and 258 connecting rods have the same big/small end diameters, share the same rod bearings, same piston pin diameter, and the same ARP-112-6001 rod bolts.

ARP-146-6001 is a new part no. for the 4.0L rods. Either of those part nos. would be suitable for your application.

Thanks for clearing that up dino!
Seems the 112-6001 are about 40% cheaper than the 146-6001 bolts so that will be an easy choice! I don't know why anything after market for the 4.0 is always marked up I know you gotta pay to play but the bolts are a perfect example same bolt but the ones for 4.0 are almost twice as much???

Another random question , pick apart is having a "pull athon" anything you can carry for 20 feet for 39.99$
What's the better deal? I'm thinking a back up AW4 or another 0630 head with throttle body and hopefully as long as I can find one slap a 2000 intake manifold on it ???? I Don't really "need" any of it but I like the junkyard anyway and that's a deal either way, what would you guy's be looking for? I'm for sure getting something I just don't know what yet!

I'd be interested in a 2000+ intake manifold is you feel like grabbing an extra one.

An extra AW4 won't hurt.. you will have a spare to take the valve body off, get it modded then install it.

What else would you need? What axles do you have? Time to upgrade? ZJ rear discs?

Then again, at what point to we start hording 4.0L parts?

Start hoarding!/ $#!/ I've been hoarding I've got a room full of parts yeah a room not a garage "the wife loves it" just in case the 4.0 ever becomes a hard to find engine! :x I've been looking over there prices at pick apart and trying to determine what would financially make sense. I know for an AW4 they normally charge 99.00$ with a 35$ core and mine has about 250,000
Miles on it but have never had a problem with it / on the flip side of what I was considering get the spare head port ,polish it
Open up the thermostat housing, and throttle body and keep my jeep mobile in the meanwhile and save some $$$ the pull athon is July 14th so I can start pulling and stashing parts up until then! Yes I've hid parts there before in the trunks of junk cars that don't make me a bad guy!
Silver I know you already have a 2000 intake as well so I think your right there with me on holding on to them hard to find 4.0 parts
I'm leaning towards the head/t.b/& 2=2000intake manifolds one for me one for silver and possibly a handful of 24lb injectors! It will be worth goin to watch the big ol country boys trying to carry big blocks 20' "FAIL"
(Side note) is anyone running the arp 146-6001 rod bolts?
The reason I ask is I know the 112-6001 the big end needs resized I'm just curious if these are the same bolt

Might of spoke to soon about my tranny (AW4) in the last couple days I've noticed a squealing noise only under acceleration sounds to me like definitely not coming from engine bay, belts about a month old and water pump ain't much older so I've ruled that out already , everything I've read is kinda making me think It's the "flexplate"???
It don't squeal in neutral /park/ or reverse only really if I get on it!
Just curious if anyone has had these symptoms? Also should mention about a month ago I topped it off with Dex/merc ATF
Any suggestions? Sorry not really stroker related but the aw4 is gonna be pushing my stroker so in a way it is

Better hit the weights. Whatever you do, DO NOT try to fart when carrying all that weight.

 or even worse shart myself! Ive picked up a 4.0 block with all the internals more than once ,no idea what an AW4 weighs but id guess lighter than the block, although picking it up and carrying it 20' are completely different tasks.

Just wondering if any of you have a preferred brand of piston rings for the Keith black 944 pistons and where to get them?
I've already got my pistons but couldn't afford the rings at the same time! Not looking for over kill but also don't want to cheap out.
Any advice??? Thanks1
