Im just going to suck it up and replace it all, i figure at almost 200,ooo why not replace the whole valvetrain. Your a great help so far manCheromaniac wrote:You could save about $600 by reusing the stock cam and just adding new lifters. That way you can also reuse the stock valve springs/retainers/locks/timing set. Otherwise you'd need to get the following items in addition to the valve springs/retainers/locks and your choice of CompCams cam:

Re: Well new guy building a stroker
Yeah with nearly 200k miles on the original engine replacing the whole valvetrain's probably a good idea. Keep the stock cam as a spare though. You never know when you might need it. I reused my 174k mile old original stock cam when my Crane cam/lifters failed and I've put on another 37k miles since.99OHXJ wrote:Im just going to suck it up and replace it all, i figure at almost 200,ooo why not replace the whole valvetrain. Re: Well new guy building a stroker
Get the damper balanced.
just get the ARP rod bolts. No need for main or head ARPs.

Re: Well new guy building a stroker
Alright i know i seem annoying just trying to do this once and right.
I talked to a machinist and he asked why i would have to balance the balancer, also it has no timing marks when it should so i think i got a defect.
Also anyone have a link for good intake and exhaust vlaves?
Should i go with harlan adjustable or non adjustable rockers.
Also does anyone have a solution on how to figure pushrod length out?
And last for now what lifters should i run? I was thinking the comp ones that match the cam, just not the springs as there too stiff

Re: Well new guy building a stroker
Because they frequently aren't balanced. Its odd that he needed to ask. Ohh.. is it a Professional Porducts? I had one w/o a mark as well.99OHXJ wrote:I talked to a machinist and he asked why i would have to balance the balancer, also it has no timing marks when it should so i think i got a defect.
SSI makes some SS intake valves that will work. Also anyone have a link for good intake and exhaust vlaves?
Roller rockers have several benefits. The adjustablilty is nice to exactly set your preload.Should i go with harlan adjustable or non adjustable rockers.
Pushrod checker. Search on here for the Comp Cams number. Also does anyone have a solution on how to figure pushrod length out?
I like Johnson/Hylifts. PN 2011 available directly from them. And last for now what lifters should i run? I was thinking the comp ones that match the cam, just not the springs as there too stiff

Re: Well new guy building a stroker
Im going to ask summit to see if they have one with marks on it
Also cant find this ssi company. Whys it impossible to find valves for the 4.0?
Cant find the checker, found a new machinist that builds conquest/ starion motors real smart guy. If its cheap im having him build the engine, id rather build a 12valve, not too good with the gas jobs
