Stroking - OBD I vs OBD II

I've a '95 XJ.
Plan to start rebuilding an engine for it this year. Being my DD, I'd buy another engine and rebuild it. My plan is to focus on torque more than hp. No forced induction or super-high compression ratios or anything crazy. As far as cam timing, it's my understanding that the less overlap, the better the torque, which is what I'm after, so I'd look for a cam that would give me that. I know going to ODB2 would entail swapping out the dash & gauges, mountings, along with the computer. Wouldn't mind having the 97+ dash & extra airbag anyways. Wondering just what the differences are between stroking an ODB1 vs ODB2. Any benefits or downsides to one or the other when it comes to a sorta basic stroker?

With most Stroker builds it doesn't really matter to much what ECU you are running. The only thing that I can see that might (and might is a stretch) make any ECU "better" is OBDII for the tuning abilities. Everyone is going to have their preference but the reality is that that they will all work.

To answer your question, its not worth swapping everything unless you have another compelling reason and the time to do it all.

I like my RENIX just fine.
If it feels right, then STROKE it!
